FACTS AND SPECS OF THIS GREAT BULLDOZER

Birtley 4 meter blade on a D4 -7U

The D4 actually started around 1937 with a G4 Series then evolved into the 7U Series of the 1940s and 1950s. The Caterpillar Company continued to build new D4s right up till now and they are a great machine. The smaller D2 was a bit underpowered for the weight but the D4 was another machine. Ours is No 15689 a 1951 model. Our model has the BIRTLEY blade. The Birtley company of Durham, England made these under license to Caterpillar then the Cat company took them over in 1963. The blades are solid as a rock and U shaped frame
