CATERILLAR D4-7U FACTS AND SPECS OF THIS GREAT BULLDOZER
The D4 actually started around 1937 with a G4 Series then evolved into the 7U Series of the 1940s and 1950s. The Caterpillar Company continued to build new D4s right up till now and they are a great machine. The smaller D2 was a bit underpowered for the weight but the D4 was another machine and solid as. We had spark problems with the Pony motor but managed to start this machine after 3 years sitting in the bush in New Zealand. With a bit of ether the main motor started & runs fine just like new ready for its restoration on our farm. Check the fuel pressure on the guage at the front left of the motor and oil pressure guage both of which were fine on this model Cat D4-7U.
The Caterpillar D4 -JU Series
The tracks need attention but we will take a link out of this side as adjusting has reached near the max. To do this we will gas axe on of the links out. Other side is fine & the rollers OK as well as the sprockets. One of the good things about these Cats they are solid and even the oil nipples were easy to fill bar 1 which is excellent for the age of this machine 1951. 56D.

Remember when loading on your truck in NZ this CatD4 blade is approx 4m wide & the limit on the Class 2 road in NZ is 4.1m without using a pilot vehicle. However we put the blade on a tilt which overcomes this problems for removal. WE ARE ALWAYS INTERESTED IN BUYING USED CAT D4-7U PARTS ANYWHERE IN NZ. JUST EMAIL US
