Broken tipper mechanism hand pull in Isuzu

Elf Tipper. How to fix:

THE ISUZU ELF 250 1991 TIPPER-- with broken tipping lever in cab.

Isuzu Elf 250 Truck tipper one can brake the rachet bar mechanism under the steering wheel. Its not a hard job to fix but you need to remove the right plastic cover over the brake fluid holder as well as the dashboard cover which is only held by a few bolts underneath with easy access. Then just raise the kms cluster which has 4 screws & lift up enough to get one bolt 13mm off holding the 2 bolt plate to the main beam & abiove the steering rack --- under the cluster.

Take pics so you know where everything goes & makes it easy on yourself. The main plate costs about $350 from Japan if you cant weld it but in general all the parts to Isuzus are well made and easy to unscrew etc.

Once prised open the you can take the tipper handle out and the whole mechanism can then be removed. Its then easy to weld if its broken due to constant pulling and pushing in to raise or lower the tipper tray.

Replacement parts will have to come from Japan but check out Robinson Isuzu in Palmerston North parts dept and Chris can assist you as all the tipper accessories come from Japan.

When the arm breaks the tipper was in the up position. You can pull the plunger down with a screwdriver in the recess but in this case the main mechanism broke so we can weld it up.

If you need the parts for this tipper ask robertson Isuzu in Palmerston North parts dept and they can get from Japan in 3 weeks as at April 2024.

THE SELECTOR was mig welded & a replacement arm will cost aound $460

from Japan if you can't weld it.

Make sure you insert new bushes--theres 2x around $12 to buy as this is

where all the pressure is.

Remember some things are cheaper to buy if you know where to look
