THE CHEAP WAY

If you need to replace your tracks links this can cost you around $2500-4000 for a set of 2. The other way of fixing them for a temp fix is by welding 1/2 50mm steam pipe inserts. How to do: buy a length of 50mm outside diameter steam pipe- [ normally a red colour in NZ & heavy as against galv water pipe ] the you nee dto cut into 50mm pieces then split down the centre. You then weld using low hydrogen rods to the existing bad links in your tracks.

Lay your tracks on the ground and take out the split link pin so its flat on the shoes then you can weld the inserts on to the track links. Check the condition of each track link then buy 50mm outside diameter heavy duty steam pipe. You will need to use a steel cutter to cut into 50-55cm lengths then split down the middle so you have 1/2 to weld onto the old existing track links. Remember this is the comboy way of fixing track links if you are on a tight budget or living in a country where you have limited accvess to supplies of track links replaclements. Its cheap but effective for the job.
