SCHOONER 1500 WOOD BURNER IN NEW ZEALAND MADE BY BRUGGER WAS & IS A GREAT WOOD BURNER

If you have to install a wood burner there are a few dos you must have to comply in NZ. We can now assist anyone who wishes to install a new flue or section in their woodburner & comply to local Council specs.

Check the specs for a Schooner Woodburner 1500 series made by BRUGGER in NZ. A strong large wood burner.

The below info is for a Schooner Series 1500 standing Signature fire made by Brugger Exports in NZ being an excellent well built free standing woodburner

We If you are not sure how to install a wood burner we have several specs that one must comply with. You need to get a Council permit and for used ones even an Engineers report as noone seems to want to take responsibility in signing off.

If you need fire bricks go for the Skamolex insulating brick which you can cut to size with a hand saw. In Levin the place to go is House of Flame inTioTio Rd and they are excellent to deal with. The SLAMOLEX brick is a compressed vermeculite brick made in the USA and is light but does the job in your wood burner fire place.. Ideal for night store heaters, boilers, beans and columns, ventilation ducts and fire doors it costs approx $8 per 100mm x 100mm and is excellent. Complete panel insulation for lining your fire place and for free standing wood burner stoves and cookers.

Need woodburner flue replaced or new sections installed. Its easy to arrange Council approval for all your weood burner needs. You then need to get your woodburner installed then inspected by the Cpuncil and if used then you need to have an Engineers report which can cost $150-250 just for them to make sure it complies (a ripoff as theres actually no qualitifa\cations regarding who is a psecialist installer in NZ). Once OK then you must get compliance signed off by a Plumber??.

Most Plumbers won't do this as we found out & overcharge. [ Woodburner installer ]

1/. Common faults with used woodburners -- baffles need replacing easy if you know how to weld a new baffle in.

2/. If your wood burner throws smoke out the front door then your flue is blocked. Check the flue and cap as probably blocked

3/. The higher the flue the better for air to draw up the chimnet.

4/. Flues can get clogged up in one season-- if doing yourself put a rock with wire netting tied around and lower and raise with rope to get the soot off the flue.

5/. Cleaning the glass--wet nespapers with ash does the trick. Once the black soot is off use wet newspapers to clean again.

6/. If no firebricks on the bottom it pays to buy some.

CLEANING GLASS IN A WOODBURNER: Vinegar+baking soda mixed together make a paste to clean the glass. The two solutions will get the build up off. Then wipe off with wet cleaning towel.Vinegar+baking soda mixed together making a paste clean the glass. Now wipe off with wet cleaning towel. Coniferous wood add too much tar to your woodburner.
