NZ Beneficiaries pressed to return to part-time workforce

but are the Jobs really there??

Wanganui

But where are the jobs going to come from and who is going to employ beneficiaries who haven't worked for ages. Wishful thinking: yet another Paula Bennett prediction who lives on her saying: "I used to be a beneficiary but now I am going to change it all" 2011 Feb Universal enrolment in KiwiSaver and a hike in GST to 17.5 per cent has been suggested by a Government-appointed working group,& that New Zealand is near bust & in a "depressed economy".

FAt the moment theres 97,000 people on the benefit and 43000 on the dole buit that was in June 2010 -- now in August theres even more???. So what are the chances of more people going on the dole ---a good chance as jobs are not easy and in small towns there is nothing. Today in total 345,000 people are on a benefit and the annual welfare bill is $4.8 billion but a recession thats looming will see more and the National policy of getting more people off will mean there last party stand for sure. No new jobs are being created apart from those in the Health sectors, District councils etc who need more and more managers to oversee our Doctors who are leaving in droves & even more crazy "creative consents" that our councils dream up. NZ is going backwards not forwards and it will do so until the NZ Govt controls the overspending of CEO run departments and the rediculous consents.

Paula Bennit is a National Member of Parliament and got it all wrong. After three years in opposition as a list MP she is now the MP for Waitakere in Auckland. She is responsible for the government's labour market and employment strategy, and the strategic policy framework for social development and employment simply put the Social Welfare Minister. She thrives on being once on the DPB yet now has in her mind that drastic changes need to be looked at. Sure she is partly right but just look at the rampant spending Politicians have made this year then ask yourself. She is a hypocrite!!

Her idea of work testing sole parents on the domestic purposes benefit (DPB) is an unjustifiable breach of human rights while women on the widow's benefit or the woman alone benefit would not and this was portrayed by Attorney-General Chris Finlayson advised Parliament. Perhaps the Government needs to trim there own expenses and see if they can save the equivalent of $1.49m they want to trim from the woman alone benefit. Although I am against any benefits --- the downside is it is part of the NZ system that we are stuck with and how can you means test anything when the jobs are not out there.

Axe the benefits:

Take the benefits off people like Darryl Harris and his wife Marcia Harris, and three of their four children, are all beneficiaries. Mr and Mrs Harris have claimed unemployment and sickness benefits continuously since 1984, at present being in receipt of about $1000 a week. They also got $30,000 in special needs grants since 2000, including $16,000 in the past two years special needs for new tyres on the couple's 2007 silver Chrysler saloon, and a fence for a swimming pool at "one of their several properties". Also anyone over 10 years on a benfit needs to be looked at??? These people and others like them need to be stopped.

They should instead do a means test on the pension and take many of those who have adequate assets to live on those assets and not be eligible for the over 65 age pension. This way would certainly balance out things with the benefit people. Simply speaking theres not the jobs out there especially in small towns where the benefits are perhaps higher in numbers as Bennet says. NZ needs to look at other ways to reduce goods and services and trimming Councils who are now run by CEOs plus drop salaries and departments over the top in ther white collar industry. Lets face it its not even worth setting up a small business in NZ due to the monthly costs across the board.

NZ families are slowly having the doors shut but where theres a will theres a way!!!!!

Food prices rose 1.0 per cent , with higher prices for grocery food (up 1.1 %), mainly milk, cheese, and butter. Prices up for fruit and vegetables (by 2.3 %) and meat, poultry, and fish (up 1.3 %). "Although food prices are 1.2 per cent higher than a year ago, they are 10.1 per cent higher than two years ago," Statistics New Zealand's prices manager Chris Pike said.

Petrol prices are now at high levels in 2019

USA : States with the highest jobless rates are getting less money per person under the federal stimulus program than states with below-average unemployment. Check Miami the 5th highest unemployment & rates have exploded which will effect the dollar value???

The above is a job fair for people looking for work
