Isuzu 4BE1 on the Elf is really easy to work on and accessible from the Cab lift. Older trucks have problems with gunked up fuel tanks and lines so clean regularly

The Isuzu Elf like any other diesel powered truck does have a fuel problem. Normally tha gas tank will over time get sand etc and grit in the tank. This passes out of the tank and then runs via an inline filter and blocks the line causing your truck to run erratically then stop. The truck may start but again will stall. Your problem will be a clogged up filter in this line. The older the truck the more frequently you need to clean the inline filter.

What to do? You will see the plastic transmission fluid holder at the bottom mid section. If you need to bleed the fuel line then unscrew the plunger and press up and down. If it doesn't come up straight away then your filter is clogged up as fuel cannot get to the plunger. Just to the right of this and lower down you will see the fuel line. You will need a 17mm socket to undo this line and inside you will see the filter. Clean it as gunk will be there and if so wait a month then do it again.

If you need to bleed the system then you will see the small 10mm bleeder above the plunger so undo then depress the plunger until all the air comes out then tighten the bleeder up again.

Change the Fuel filter--thats the black filter 1/2 way up on the left side and theyre around $24 at Repco in NZ.
